Apple has been ordered to publicly recant its claims in Great Britain that the Samsung Galaxy Tab (above) is a copy of its iPad. But the judge in the case said the two can't be confused because Samsung tablets are "not as cool" as the iPad.
Apple Inc.? has been ordered by a British judge to publicly state on its U.K. website and in papers in that country that Samsung Electronics Co. didn?t copy the iPad.
The order follows up on a decision last week by Judge Colin Birss that Samsung?s Galaxy tablets don?t infringe Apple?s iPad designs.
The judge said the notices must be left up for at least six months, although the order and last week's findings are subject to appeal.
Apple has stated in the British lawsuit and others around the world that Samsung "slavishly copied" the design of the iPad.
The win and order are something of a mixed bag for Samsung, however, since the judge also said Samsung products couldn't be mistaken for Apple's because they are "not as cool."
