LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "The Voice" will kick off its third season with a three-night run, with Wednesday, September 12 being added to the previously scheduled premiere airings on September 10 and September 11, NBC said Wednesday.
According to the network, the new season will kick off September 10 with coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine singing the Rolling Stones hit "Start Me Up" for the contestants, after which the blind audition process will begin.
The program, which has been a ratings hit for NBC, is receiving a slight revamp this season, with the inclusion of a new "knockout round," during which contestants will be pitted against members of their own teams.
Also new this season is something called "the steal," which will allow coaches to swipe a contestant from another coach, after that coach has decided to drop the contestant from their team.
"Obviously, Season 3 has been an evolution," executive producer Mark Burnett said during a press gathering in August. "This year there's much more at stake. When they have their battles and select one person to stay with them and one person to leave, the other coach can buzz in and steal that person that the coach has sent home."
